Identity Audit: Who Are You Now?

As we evolve, we will endure various identity shifts. Coupled with a change in appetite for things that are no longer appealing to you and new things that appeal to who you are now. Rest assured that this is a natural rhythm in life, worthy of being embraced. The tension arises when you resist the identity shift instead of becoming an active participant in the process by performing an identity audit. Similar to a life audit, an identity audit is essentially reflecting on who you no longer are and who you are now. For instance, the old you may have allowed one-sided platonic connections, but the identity shift of requiring reciprocity is who you are now. This also necessitates the ability to radically accept the things that will have a natural death in the process of becoming the next version of yourself.

Start by asking yourself, who am I now? What do I still enjoy and ignites internal fulfillment? What can I no longer allow in my life because it syphons my energy and it no longer aligns with who I am now? You have the power to tap into the new you at any moment because at a moment's notice you can practice your will to change who you are. If you are especially self-aware and introspective like myself, you can feel when an evolution of your identity is unraveling. For me, it is felt on a soul level as well as noticing a shift in my consciousness from what I once regarded as a part of my identity no longer resonating. I have endured this cycle enough to have the wisdom to navigate it, mental fortitude to process it, and spiritual groundedness in knowing God is taking me through a worthwhile transformation. The outcome is always beautiful on the other side of the identity shift, you just have to get through the beginning (feeling disoriented and off-kilter) and the middle (solitude and pruning). You are encouraged to sit with your current self to examine how you have evolved by journaling through an identity audit, so that you can greet who you are now with joy and curiosity. Happy auditing!
