Accept That You Are Set Apart
For most of my life, I have felt like an island. There has always been this heightened awareness that God has set me apart as a peculiar person with a special purpose. Continuously feeling like an island has been woven throughout my life experiences within environments, opportunities, connections, and everything in between. My maturity in understanding, accepting, and navigating it has grown tremendously - there was a point in my younger years when I resisted it greatly. I have come to see the beauty and joy in it, while also feeling the frustration that rises up because of it. Generally speaking, most people do not know how to steward those who are truly set apart for a multitude of reasons. The reality is that an abundance of honor and genuine intentionality is required for the proper stewardship of something or someone that is set apart. That is why it is vital for you to accept that you are set apart, so that you can cherish that part of you and be wise about how you move through life.
When you know and accept yourself completely, the world loses its power over trying to convince you otherwise. You are instead grounded in the knowledge that God has given you a wonderful purpose that requires you to not be like anything or anyone in this world. With that, comes resistance from others. With that, comes people who mishandle someone they are actually supposed to cherish. With that, comes feeling out of place in most places and spaces. With that, comes a deep level of self-awareness and intentionality because you know you have too much to lose if you did not move with a sense of prudence. With that comes, in my case, feeling like an island. With that, also comes the joy of intimacy with God since He designed you in such a unique way - you will naturally be called to seek Him for guidance and Fatherly companionship. May this be a charge to your heart to accept that you are set apart, so that you can embrace it with love and navigate life with a renewed level of mindfulness.
Joy Gem: Matthew 5:13-14 NIV | “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
