Honor It for What It Is

Rightfully, there are circumstances or experiences in life that we tend to lean away from because they are producing discomfort of some sort. You may want to stray away from formally calling whatever it is by its name because you believe the moment that you do things will escalate. What if you instead try the reframe of naming it then honor it for what it is. For instance, say you are feeling a bout of sadness and instead of suppressing the experience; you instead name what you are experiencing and then honor the fact that you are experiencing sadness. You can then allow yourself to fully experience the fleeting moment without wishing it away and give yourself permission to get curious about what is coming to the surface for you to be conscious of that caused the sadness to manifest in the first place. Sometimes our soul simply is nudging us to be honest with ourselves and honor what is going on with us or within our lives.

I honor the fact that I am at my best when I have adequate solo time to fully recharge after exerting energy out into the world. I gave myself no choice but to honor it for what it is because if I deny that personal need exists then I would not be able to operate at my best. Honor it for what it is if you need help and it brings you discomfort to ask for help due to lived experiences. This makes room for self-acceptance and then challenge yourself one small ask for help at a time to overcome it when you are ready. It is tough to make it through life alone and we are called to help one another (Hebrews 13:16 NIV). Honor it for what it is that you genuinely desire friendship and community (it is a natural human desire). The gist is that by honoring it for what it is, you move through whatever it is with a little more ease. Ease in the sense of moving from resisting to accepting, accepting to processing, and processing to a course of action that feels aligned or simply to a place of peace with it.
